3DS Dreamcast Theme

Is A Treat For Your Ears
The Sega Dreamcast may not have stuck around as long as Sega may have hoped, but it left a lasting impression on fans.

Even tho the Dreamcast been gone for almost a decade now, and SEGA is slowly nailing its own coffin together, the system and its games live on forever its fans hearts even if they move into newer systems like the New 3DS recently launched from Nintendo.

Sega of Japan is releasing a Dreamcast theme for the Nintendo 3DS that reskins the UI and provides a faithful audio recreation of the retro console’s startup – warts and all.

As pointed out by Redditor nolaredditor the theme goes a step beyond a simple visual tweak. It adds the sounds of the Dreamcast’s startup sequence, including the whir of fans, the chattering and grinding of the console’s disc drive, and the long beep of the VMU. I remember wondering if there was something wrong with my system when I first set it up, but I quickly got used to all the noise. This is a great reminder of those days.

So there you go to can now relive the glory days of the Dreamcast on your 3DS complete with even the sounds of spinning high-speed GD-ROM discs in your system, but sadly it is currently only available for Japanese New 3DS systems, maybe someone clever in the ‘scene’ world that owes a Gateway Flashcart will figure out how to port it over to North American and European New 3DS handhelds, as now it would be fitting as early pirates will remember we had to swap from Boot Disc to our Game Backup, just like now with Gateway.
